Yesterday I finished delivering 3 days of rescue training for staff at Go Ape Trent Park. I had a great time working with the team, despite the wet weather! Here is a video of me 'monkeying' around on the zip wire before heading home.
It's been a fairly hectic week back starting with a fully subscribed (12 person) CWA training course at The Benham centre and The Pinnacle followed by a CWA assessment at Big Rock and then a coaching CPD session for the Big Rock staff team. Saturday also saw the first of the DofE training sessions of the year at Quinton House School.
After the high winds and poor avalanche forecasts last week I came back to Scotland with The Tempest Two to do some climbing and consolidate for my MIC. The weather today was amazing in the Cairngorms with wall to wall sunshine, light winds and really good consolidated ice throughout... Excited for tomorrow :)
Had a really good day at Big Rock climbing centre today running a Mountain Training CWAA (Climbing Wall Abseil Award) assessment. If you would like to become a climbing instructor or still need to complete a CWA or CWAA assessment, please contact us for details and prices.
Just spent a lovely couple of days in Scotland teaching winter skills to a great group of young adults and generally playing in the snow. There is good amount of snow around still and it was coming down quite thick and fast yesterday. If you would like to learn how to operate safely within the winter environment it's not too late for 2018 as we still have places available on skills courses.
We ran the beautiful trails of Coed y Brenin on Saturday, it was a very cold race with lots of mud and even snow but we had a fantastic time. After warming up with a cup of tea in our finishers' mug it was time to head over to Plas y Brenin for the Association of Mountaineering Instructors AGM on the Saturday night and a workshop by Rab and Lowe Alpine on the Sunday.
